
Calneggia Family Vineyards was very proud to be pouring some of our great wines at the recent Willie Creek Pearl’s Pearl Meat Cook Off for the Shinju Matsuri festival in beautiful Broome on September 3rd 2017! The venue was the very charming Pearl Lugger’s in Chinatown which is part of the Willie Creek Pearls family.
Our wines were paired with the dishes created by some of Broome’s best chefs as they competed to be crowned the Pearl Meat Cook Off Champion! The capacity crowd sampled their way through all the chef’s creations, enjoyed a drink and were entertained by some great live music and entertainment.
Special guest judge Tamara Graffen, recent MasterChef 2017 contestant and Broome resident announced the winner. And the winner was……Matso’s Brewery with a sensational combination of Bunkers sparkling poached apple paired with a lime ceviche pearl meat and a spiced potato crisp, delicious. A perfect dish to accompany the Bunkers sparkling, rose’ or Sauvignon Blanc Semillon as the crowd was quick to confirm.
The 47th Shinju Matsuri festival, also known as the Festival of the Pearl celebrates Broome’s culture and history with a spectacular array of performance, exhibitions and culinary delights.
