Description
The Rosabrook “Dear Father” Cabernet Sauvignon is named after the “Dear Father” red rose that Australians love, just like our fathers. Deep, velvety, bright and long-lasting. The rose bloom colour comes in great clusters of ruffled flowers showing off against the backdrop of glassy dark red-green leaves.
Named in honour of Jim Calneggia, this wine has a lovely red purple hue, on the palate it is velvety-smooth with dark fruit flavours and earthy undertones, with a long persistent finish.
Product Tasting Notes
WINEMAKER’S NOTE: Deep colour with the classic bouquet of briar Cabernet and unmistakably Margaret River this wine has a velvety and fine structured palate.
VINTAGE CONDITIONS: Wet spring and combination of rain events and warm temperature during summer made for long ripening in 2021. The humidity levels created challenging condition for some areas in the region. However, good draining and ventilated sites benefited from the slow maturation and provided fruit with good flavour and fine tannin in red varieties.
VINEYARDS: Located in north of the Margaret River region our vineyard was planted almost 20 years ago. Low yielding and now mature.
VINIFICATION: Machine picked grapes were fermented in static fermenter and pumped over daily. On dryness, the wine was run to seasoned French oak barrels. It was finally bottled after 14 months in oak and laid down for further maturation until release.

This is intense and powerful, with quality fruit at the core. The balance is exemplary, with the fine textural notes providing a frame for the fruit. Delicious now but would also benefit from ten years in the cellar. A complete wine and a contender for best value Cabernet in 2021 (Barry Weinman – Fine Wine Club)

“Quite deep, dark and opaque colour in the glass, really youthful. There’s classic Margaret River cabernet aromas here: blackberry, mulberry, dried herbs, bramble, briar and a leafy lift. Dense, dark and layered, there’s real power and balance in the fruit depth and mouth-feel. Lashings of blackberry, mulberry, dark plum, blackcurrant, cedar, graphite and dried herbs. Firm, granular and structured tannins provide really smart texture and seriousness, this is long, layered and a very sophisticated and rewarding wine. Outstanding value.” Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

“Deep, bright red-purple; reserved but attractive aromas, savoury dry underbrush and earthy, meaty notes overlying cranberry, the palate medium bodied and again savoury, with drying powdery tannins. Red fruits lead the palate flavours.” Huon Hooke, The Real Review 2023
